Tokyo Welcomes the All-New Apple Ginza on September 26
Light House Denver – Apple today announced the highly anticipated reopening of Apple Ginza on Friday, September 26, in the iconic Ginza district of Tokyo. The location is especially meaningful as it marks the place where Apple began its retail journey in Japan more than two decades ago. First opened in 2003 as Apple’s first store outside the U.S., Apple Ginza now returns with a striking four-story redesign that unites Apple’s latest products, services, and immersive experiences under one roof.
“Apple Ginza holds a special place in our hearts as our very first store outside the U.S.,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “This reopening marks another milestone in our journey with Japan, and it symbolizes our deep connection with customers and communities across the country.”
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail and People, echoed the excitement: “We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to this iconic store, reimagined with a magical new design and incredible local programming where customers can enjoy the very best of Apple.”
At the new Apple Ginza, visitors can explore the full lineup of Apple products, from the iPhone 17 family to the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 3, and AirPods Pro 3. Exclusive accessories such as the iPhone Air Case with MagSafe and the all-new Crossbody Strap are also available.
To celebrate the reopening, Apple Ginza is offering a special-edition Apple Gift Card, available only at this location for a limited time.
The store provides all the signature Apple retail services: personalized shopping sessions, monthly financing options, Apple Trade In, and a dedicated Pickup area for convenient online-to-store orders.
In honor of the reopening, Apple Ginza will debut a Today at Apple Spotlight session in collaboration with Japanese supergroup Number_i, highlighting Spatial Audio and video through their hit single “U.M.A.” The session launches exclusively at Ginza before expanding to other Apple Stores across Japan on October 11.
Fans can also book one-on-one Apple Vision Pro demos, offering an immersive behind-the-scenes experience of the “U.M.A.” music video in the Spatial Gallery app.
In addition, the store will host a full range of Today at Apple sessions, including updates like “Tips: What’s New on iOS 26” and “Say Hello to iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.” These sessions give customers even more ways to explore Apple’s newest innovations.
The new Apple Ginza embodies Apple’s commitment to sustainability and local culture. The store runs entirely on 100 percent renewable energy and features a double-skin glass façade with adaptive louvers that regulate light and temperature. The design floods the interior with natural light, while warm wooden paneling nods to traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Balcony-style spaces overlook Ginza’s bustling streets, while varied table heights and dedicated areas like the Genius Bar ensure accessibility and personalized service for every visitor.
Ahead of the reopening, Apple invites customers to download custom Ginza wallpapers, listen to a curated Apple Music playlist, and register for upcoming Today at Apple sessions.
The store officially opens Friday, September 26, at 10 a.m. JST, offering not just a shopping destination, but an immersive hub of technology, creativity, and culture in the heart of Tokyo.
