America in Mourning: Pro-Trump Influencer Charlie Kirk Shot While Giving Campus Speech
Light House Denver – Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has died after being shot. An attacker targeted Kirk while he was delivering a keynote speech at an event hosted by Utah Valley University.
According to reports from BBC and AFP on Thursday (September 11, 2025), video footage from the scene showed Charlie Kirk answering a student’s question before gunfire suddenly erupted. The moment instantly turned the campus gathering into chaos.
In an official statement sent to major U.S. outlets including The New York Times and Fox News, Utah Valley University confirmed that the gunfire came from a building roughly 200 yards (182 meters) away.

“At approximately 12:20 p.m., a shooter fired from a building about 200 yards from the speaker. The bullets struck the individual, and his security detail immediately evacuated him,” said university spokesperson Ellen Trean.
Crowds of students and attendees panicked and ran frantically from the scene. In the footage, people shouted “Go! Run, run, run!” while campus security urged everyone to clear the area for their safety.
Campus police later confirmed that the shooting occurred during an event featuring Charlie Kirk in Orem, Utah. People widely recognized Kirk as the leader of the conservative student organization Turning Point USA.
Marina Minas, Chief Marketing Officer of Turning Point USA, told CBS News that a gunman shot Kirk in the neck. Security rushed him to the hospital, but his condition rapidly deteriorated.
“Kirk was shot in the neck. He is currently in the hospital, but his condition does not look good,” Minas reported.
Former President Donald Trump expressed deep sorrow over Kirk’s passing, describing him as a passionate young leader loved by many.
“Everyone, especially I, loved and admired him. Melania and I extend our deepest condolences to his beautiful wife, Erika, and his family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, according to AFP.
Trump added that America had lost an extraordinary figure. He emphasized that no young person in the country had a heart as devoted to America’s youth as Kirk did.
“The great, even legendary, Charlie Kirk has passed away. No one understood or cared for the young people of the United States better than Charlie,” Trump declared.
