Suga of BTS Donates Rp59.6 Billion to Autism Therapy Center
Light House Denver – Suga, a member of BTS, recently donated 5 billion won (approximately Rp59.6 billion) to Severance Hospital in South Korea. The donation will be used to establish the Min Yoongi Treatment Center, a dedicated therapy center for children with autism spectrum disorders. Suga’s contribution marks the largest individual donation ever made by an artist.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the therapy center took place on Monday, June 23, 2025. Severance Hospital representatives stated that the center aims to provide long-term care and promote social independence for patients with autism.

Suga’s interest in this issue began with his ongoing concern for teenage mental health. Since November last year, he has been in discussions with Professor Cheon Keun-ah, a child psychiatrist at Severance Hospital, who introduced him to the specific needs of children with autism spectrum disorders.
More than just donating, Suga BTS personally helped develop the therapy program. From March to June, he actively participated in over ten music therapy sessions, directly interacting with the children every weekend. He played music, sang together with them, and even personally taught the children how to play musical instruments.
Through his involvement, Suga and the team developed the MIND program, a therapeutic method that integrates music to help children express their emotions, improve social skills, and enhance communication abilities. In this program, the instructors encourage children to play musical instruments and write as a form of free self-expression.
Severance Hospital reported significant improvements in the children’s emotional expression and language skills. Some children also showed progress in building social relationships. Professor Cheon Keun-ah expressed deep appreciation for Suga’s dedication, which extended beyond financial support to include his time, talents, and personal involvement.
“The goal of this center is to help children with autism spectrum disorders grow into healthy members of society through the power of music, while also working to eliminate stigma and raise awareness about disabilities,” said Professor Cheon.
Suga also shared his gratitude for being part of the process. “For me, music is a language that connects hearts. I am truly happy to have been involved with them in this journey. I will continue to contribute so that more children can be embraced as valuable members of our society,” he said.
Severance Hospital plans to complete the Min Yoongi Treatment Center in September. It will continue to develop music-based programs, therapies, and clinical research focused on children with developmental disorders.
