The joke referred to an old rumor claiming that Bruno had racked up $50 million in gambling debt at MGM Grand Las Vegas, where he signed a long-term residency deal in 2016. However, MGM officially denied the claim in March 2024.
“That speculation is entirely false. Bruno has no debt with MGM,” the company stated.
Bruno has since used the rumor as comedic material. After breaking the record as the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify, he jokingly wrote, “I’ll be debt-free soon.”
