Jungkook BTS Returns to Instagram, 6M Followers in Hours
Light House Denver – BTS’s youngest member, Jungkook, captured public attention by launching a new Instagram account and gaining millions of followers in hours. The news sparked excitement among fans, especially ARMY, who enthusiastically welcomed the 1997-born idol back to the social media platform.
Despite having no posts or profile picture, Jungkook’s new account amassed over 6.8 million followers by Wednesday afternoon (July 16, 2025). The figure reaffirms his incredible global popularity and influence online.
During a live broadcast on Weverse Live with fellow BTS members V, RM, and Jimin, Jungkook confirmed that the account, @mnijungkook, is indeed his. He explained that the username stands for “my name is Jungkook.”

This isn’t Jungkook’s first time on Instagram. He previously opened a personal account in December 2021, which quickly grew to over 50 million followers. However, in 2023, he deleted the account, citing a lack of use.
Jungkook has long been known for his creative and distinctive approach to social media handles. His previous username, @abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz, stood out for its cleverness and humor. He later changed it to @jungkook.97 before ultimately removing the account altogether.
Now, with @mnijungkook, Jungkook continues to show his personal and playful side. He currently follows only the official BTS account and the personal accounts of fellow members, underscoring the bond that remains strong among the group, even as they pursue individual projects and complete their military service.
Jungkook BTS completed his mandatory military service on June 11, 2025. As part of the first wave of BTS members to enlist, he is also among the first to return.
His return to social media is seen by many as a signal of renewed activity as an artist. BTS is reported to be preparing for a full-group comeback in spring 2026, a highly anticipated event for fans around the world.
Jungkook’s quiet launch of a new Instagram account, without any formal announcement or content, yet still attracting millions of followers, is a clear testament to his magnetic presence and massive fanbase. In today’s digital era, few artists can command global attention that quickly with a blank profile.
With his new account, fans hope Jungkook will share more glimpses into his daily life and music projects. They’re also eager for behind-the-scenes moments as BTS gears up for its next chapter.
